About us:Independent · Verified · Unbiased
Our mission, how we research eyewear markets on the ground, our data verification process, and how to reach us. We don’t sell glasses — we just help you buy the right ones.
Independent. Verified. Unbiased.
Getting-Glasses-in-China.com was created to solve one problem: international travelers paying 3–10x inflated prices for glasses because reliable, unbiased information about China’s eyewear markets simply didn’t exist.
Our promises
- ✅ No affiliate commissions. We earn nothing from any eyewear shop or brand.
- ✅ No paid rankings. Shops cannot pay to be listed or to rank higher.
- ✅ No eyewear brand ads. We do not accept advertising from lens or frame manufacturers.
- ✅ Independent testing. Our researchers visit shops undercover as ordinary customers, never as media.
- ✅ Full transparency. We publish our testing methods, data sources, and verification process.
- ✅ Regularly updated. Prices, shop status, and quality records are updated monthly.
We believe every traveler deserves the same quality and prices as local residents. China’s eyewear markets offer extraordinary value — but only if you know where to go, how much to pay, and how to avoid the traps. That’s why this site exists.
How we research eyewear markets
Every eyewear market or district we recommend is visited in person by our researchers. We research the market or district as a whole, not any individual merchant. Here is our method.
On-the-ground visits
Our researchers visit eyewear markets and districts as ordinary customers, without revealing media or researcher identities. This guarantees we experience the same market environment and service as any traveler.
Market eye-exam standards assessment
We randomly select multiple shops within each market to assess eye exams: completeness (auto-refraction + phoropter verification + PD measurement), optometrist qualifications, equipment quality, and whether a written prescription is provided. This tells us the exam standard of the whole market.
Market price research
We ask for all-inclusive prices (frames + lenses + coatings + fitting) at multiple shops in each market. We check for hidden fees, “foreigner pricing,” and quote differences between shops to establish a fair market price range.
Product authenticity spot checks
We randomly spot-check products in the market: verifying brand authorization (by calling brand headquarters), inspecting lens packaging and anti-counterfeit codes, and using a lensmeter to confirm lens parameters match the order. This tells us the genuine-product rate of the whole market.
Market service quality assessment
We assess the service level of the whole market: staff English ability, frame variety, room for bargaining, clarity of after-sales policies, and the overall shopping experience.
How we verify data
Every price, market listing, and quality record passes a multi-step verification process before publication.
Eyewear market existence verification
Every listed eyewear market or district is confirmed by an on-site visit or phone call. We confirm it is still operating, the address is accurate, and opening hours are normal.
Price accuracy
Prices are collected through anonymous inquiries or direct quotes. We verify at least 3 data points per configuration per city. Prices are updated monthly.
Brand authorization verification
We call official brand customer service to confirm the names and authorization numbers of authorized brand stores in each market.
Quality records
Blacklist entries are cross-checked against official government inspection reports (Market Supervision Administration), court records, and verified consumer complaints. We require at least 2 independent sources.
Regular re-verification
All data is re-verified regularly. We update immediately when a market closes, changes ownership, or is exposed in the media.
