Where foreigners can buy

Most channels require a Chinese phone number and mobile payment; offline experience stores let you try before buying.

JD.com / Tmall brand flagship stores

Look for the "official flagship store / sold by the platform" label and get an invoice.

Official brand stores

RayNeo, Rokid, Xiaomi, Huawei and others launch on their own sites first; some models are only in stock offline.

Offline experience stores (Xiaomi Store, Huawei experience stores, etc.)

You can try them on first and compare weight and display quality; stores usually sell only their own brand.

Cross-border e-commerce / shopping services

For brands such as Meta that have no official channel in mainland China; no domestic warranty, and duties and after-sales are on you.

Electronics markets (Huaqiangbei / Zhongguancun, etc.)

⚠️ High risk of grey imports, refurbished units and no warranty; always inspect on the spot and ask for an invoice.

Pros and cons of using it back home

Hardware usually works, but features that rely on Chinese cloud services may stop working abroad — check this before buying.

ItemProsCons / risks
Hardware features (music, calls, photos, display)Bluetooth and WiFi are universal standards and normally work fineSome features depend on a phone app, which may not be available in overseas app stores
AI assistantFull experience inside China (domestic AI models respond fast)Abroad it often relies on Chinese cloud services, so it may not wake up or may be limited
TranslationVery useful for everyday communication in ChinaAbroad it depends on whether the maker offers overseas services
Maps / navigationChinese map services are basically unusable once you leave China
Firmware updatesUpdate servers may be reachable only from Chinese networks
Account and real-name registrationMost require a Chinese phone number; cancelling that number after you leave may affect your account
WarrantyEasy after-sales at stores and online in ChinaWarranty usually covers mainland China only; from abroad you must ship it back
Price and resale valueChinese prices are clearly below international list prices (e.g. Rokid Glasses)International versions resell better and have better ecosystem compatibility

How to get prescription lenses fitted

Only some models support prescription lenses; display-equipped AR flagships usually need a custom version or a dedicated adapter frame.

01

Check whether the model supports prescription lenses

Audio glasses and lightweight display models can usually take prescription lenses; AR flagships with a display and camera mostly do not accept standard lenses (the RayNeo X3 Pro offers a "fully laminated prescription version" for RMB 10,999).

02

Prepare your prescription data

Sphere (SPH), cylinder (CYL), axis (AXIS), pupillary distance (PD); progressive lenses also need the addition (ADD).

03

Choose how to get the lenses fitted

① Maker service: choose the frame → submit your prescription → the maker does the fitting; ② have a local optician fit the lenses (an adapter frame is required); ③ buy a custom version with the prescription built in.

04

Confirm the key details

High prescriptions and high astigmatism may not be supported; always check whether the lenses block the display area or sensors, and whether the smart features still work after fitting.
